“What internet connection and browser do I need so that Cathoven (especially speaking tests) works smoothly?”
Cathoven IELTS runs in the browser so you do not need to install a separate app
To have a smooth experience please make sure your device and browser meet the requirements below
1. Supported browsers
Cathoven works in all modern browsers that support JavaScript and cookies
For the best experience
- Use the latest version of your preferred browser
- Keep automatic updates turned on if possible
- Avoid very old or unsupported browsers
2. Devices and operating systems
You can use Cathoven on
- Laptop or desktop computer
- Tablet
- Mobile phone
Cathoven works on all common operating systems such as
- Windows
- macOS
- Android
- iOS
For longer writing tasks and full mock tests a laptop or desktop computer is usually more comfortable
3. JavaScript cookies and content blockers
Cathoven needs JavaScript and cookies to work correctly
Please check that in your browser
- JavaScript is enabled
- Cookies are allowed for Cathoven
- Any strict content blocker or privacy extension is not blocking essential scripts
If you are using a company or school device some settings may be controlled by your administrator
In that case you may need their help to allow Cathoven
4. Internet connection and audio
To use Cathoven comfortably you need
- A stable internet connection
- A working microphone for speaking tasks
It is also recommended to use
- Headphones so you can listen more clearly without background noise
When your browser asks for permission to use the microphone choose Allow
If you deny it speaking tasks will not work until you change the setting
5. Enterprise API users
If your organisation uses Cathoven through the enterprise API
You can use any programming language that can call REST APIs
for example Python JavaScript Java C sharp Go and others
- Make sure your environment is allowed to send HTTPS requests to the Cathoven API endpoint
