“Can I study with Cathoven on my laptop/desktop or do I have to use my phone? Will I lose progress if I switch devices?”
You can use Cathoven IELTS on a computer, phone, or tablet.
Your account, scores, and Premium plan are the same on all devices – you just need to log in with the same email / login method.
1. Using Cathoven on a computer (laptop / desktop)
For the best experience, we recommend using a computer when possible, especially for:
- Long writing tasks (Task 1 & Task 2)
- Mock tests
- Checking detailed feedback and history
On a computer:
- Open a modern browser (for example: Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox).
- Go to the Cathoven IELTS site and log in.
- Make sure your browser is up to date and that you have a stable internet connection.
For speaking tasks:
- Check that your microphone is connected and working.
- When the browser asks for permission to use the mic, click “Allow”.
2. Using Cathoven on a phone or tablet
You can also use Cathoven on a mobile phone or tablet.
- Open a modern browser on your device (for example: Chrome or Safari).
- Go to the Cathoven IELTS site and log in with the same account.
On mobile/tablet:
- Speaking tasks work well because you can speak directly into the device’s microphone.
- For long writing tasks, a computer or tablet with a keyboard is usually more comfortable, but you can still type on your phone if you prefer.
Make sure:
- Your browser is up to date.
- You have a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi is usually better than mobile data for longer sessions).
- You allow microphone access when starting a speaking task.
3. Switching between devices
You can switch between devices at any time:
- Start on your computer,
- Continue later on your phone or tablet,
as long as you log in with the same account. Your:
- Scores,
- Feedback, and
- Premium status
stay the same everywhere.
4. If something doesn’t work on a device
If a feature is not working correctly on a specific device (for example, speaking doesn’t start, page layout looks broken, or buttons are not visible), you can try:
- Refreshing the page
- Closing and reopening the browser
- Updating your browser to the latest version
- Trying a different browser (for example, Chrome instead of an older default browser)
- Testing on another device (computer vs phone)
If it still doesn’t work after that, please create a support ticket and include:
- Which device you’re using (computer / phone / tablet)
- Which browser and version (if you know it)
- What exactly you were trying to do (writing, speaking, mock test, etc.)
- A short description or screenshot of the problem
So we can help you and improve the experience on that device.
